Why an assessment first

Generic advice online
cannot help your child

Every child's profile is different. What you read online or hear from well-meaning relatives is generalised. Your child deserves a professional who sits with them, observes them, and tells you specifically what they need.

01

You avoid enrolling in the wrong program

The assessment exists so you do not pay for a full program that does not fit your child's actual needs. Every recommendation we make is based on what we observe not mere hearsay.

02

You get a clinical picture, not an opinion

Our lead therapist carries out a structured clinical evaluation by observing your child's communication, motor function, sensory responses, and behaviour. Then she gives you a professional recommendation.

03

You understand what your child actually needs

Parents often come in thinking their child only needs speech therapy. Sometimes they leave knowing OT, feeding therapy, or behavioural support are also needed. That clarity changes everything.

04

You ask every question you have been holding

This is dedicated, uninterrupted time with our lead therapist. Bring every worry, every observation, every question you have been afraid to ask. Nothing is too small.

An honest thing we always tell parents

If after the assessment we find that your child does not need our programs or that another specialist is better suited, we will tell you that. We would rather lose an enrollment than recommend something that does not serve your child. That is what a genuine assessment is for.

Is this right for you?

This assessment is
exactly right if…

You do not need a diagnosis to book. You just need a question you cannot answer on your own.

You have concerns about your child's speech, language, feeding, sensory responses, or behaviour

You want to enroll with CVT and need a professional assessment before committing to a program

You are unsure whether your child's development is on track for their age

Your child has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, or developmental delay and you need a structured therapy plan

You need someone to tell you whether the concern you have been dismissing deserves attention

You want to understand your child's learning and communication profile before starting school

When this assessment
is not the right fit

We want to be honest with you so you spend your money wisely:

If you only want a certificate or report for a third party without genuine intent to pursue support
If your child is above 10 years — our programs are focused on early childhood (0–5 years)
If you are outside Port Harcourt and cannot attend in person or arrange a home visit
"

We have had parents come in expecting to be told everything is fine, and it was. We have had parents come in expecting minor concerns and we found something significant. Either way, they left knowing the truth. That is the point of the assessment.

Mrs. Abby brings over 10 years of experience working with children. First as an educator who could see what the system was missing, and then as a specialist speech-language pathologist and occupational therapist who built the solutions herself.

She does not run a generic session. She asks specific questions, observes carefully, and tells you exactly what she sees, not what you want to hear, and not what she thinks you can handle. The truth delivered with warmth.

Common questions

Things parents ask us
before booking

My child is very young, is it too early for an assessment?

No. In fact, earlier is better. The brain is most responsive to language and developmental intervention in the first five years of life. If you have a concern, even at 12 or 18 months, bring it to us.

What if you find nothing wrong? Was the assessment a waste?

Not at all. Reassurance from a qualified professional based on an actual evaluation is worth far more than the worry you would otherwise carry for months. Many parents leave relieved. That is a good outcome.

Do I need to bring anything to the assessment?

Bring your child, yourself, and your questions. If your child has had any previous assessments, reports, or diagnoses, bring those too. We will ask about your child's history, so the more you remember, the better.

Will my child need to cooperate for the assessment to work?

Our therapist is experienced with children who do not cooperate, do not sit still, or are non-verbal. The assessment is designed to work with how your child actually behaves — not how you wish they would.

Does the assessment fee go towards my therapy program?

The assessment fee is a separate, one-time fee for the evaluation session itself. It does not apply toward your term enrollment. Think of it as the fee for professional expertise and time, the same way you would pay a specialist for a consultation.

What happens after the assessment?

You receive a professional recommendation. If a CVT program is the right fit, we will tell you which one and why. If a different specialist or approach is better suited, we will tell you that too. You leave knowing the next step.

Can I book the assessment if I am outside Port Harcourt?

Our in-person assessment is for families in Port Harcourt. However, we do offer a remote Parent Intervention Program (PIP) for families outside Nigeria or those who cannot attend in person. Learn more about PIP →

How do I pay and how soon can I book?

Payment is made online through our booking page. Once payment is confirmed, we contact you within 48 hours to schedule the session.
